Ratchet and Clank chase him down while Qwark gets the civilians and the other characters to safety while Talwyn and Polaris troopers steer Nefarious towards where Ratchet and Clank are. Of course he has no idea how to use it and in his rage causes his mech to break the platform as he tries to escape. Nefarious states he was hiding in it so he could see the Goons kill the duo but after seeing the device he decides to take it and use it to conquer the universe. Ratchet is touched but before he could respond to this news, Nefarious AND Lawrence suddenly appear and take the device. Eventually the Goons attack but Ratchet and Clank are able to get to the last platform where Clank reveals he fixed the Dimensionator and states that Ratchet can now use it IF he ever wanted to go find the Lombaxes. I can see a 2016 game joke here where Qwark mistakenly says Nefarious built the Deplanetizer but quickly catches this by saying his flashcards are mixed up. Nefarious (explaining the Nefarious balloon) that goes over the heroes previous encounters with him and a float about Tachyon that goes over the Lombaxes but more importantly the Dimensionator as they never explained its history in Rift Apart. ![]() I also see two new floats for this segment, one being about Dr. I have some changes for the level like Captain Qwark AND Talwyn Apogee narrate Ratchet and Clank's past adventures while other characters like Skidd and Big Al stand on floats and go over what said float represents. Ratchet is a bit nervous about the parade but Clank tells him things will be all right and the tutorial level starts. The two do a news report going over how the Polaris Galaxy is holding a parade in Meridian City for Ratchet and Clank to honor there heroic accomplishments, even explaining what they have been doing since ITN like Clank speaking at a Secret Agent Clank convention and Ratchet going on a date with Talwyn. After giving the civilian her disguise she gets spotted by troopers and gets chased where maybe like in ACIT we could get a very small gameplay segment where we learn to jump and use the new running mechanic ? She’s eventually cornered and a bright light is shined on her, which slowly turns into flashing cameras followed by the appearance of Polaris news reporters Kip Darling and Pepper Fairbanks. "Despite falling into the trope of a disabled character who 'overcomes' their disability by using a robotic prosthetic," wrote VG247's Ty Galiz-Rowe, "Rivet is still a better than average example of disability representation.Rift Apart was a fun game and it had a good story but I feel like it could have been better if it had been longer and more aimed for long time fans of the series so here is my version of it.The opening is the same with Rivet getting the infobot from Emperor Nefarious’s assistant, who in this version I will call Cadence. Though protagonists such as Senua from "Hellblade" stand out as exceptions, Rivet, who lost one of her arms before the events of "Rift Apart," further breaks from the norm. Insomniac's decision to make Rivet a protagonist helped bridge the gap between the growing number of female players and their in-game counterparts.īeyond her gender, Rivet also represents a demographic rarely seen in games: people with disabilities. While the number of featured female characters in video games reached a new high of 18% last year (via Wired), overall progress has proven slow. This quest for inclusivity produced Rivet, who Smith described as "the perfect representation for us."Īs reported by Forbes, women accounted for nearly 41% of U.S. ![]() ![]() "Personally, I have an 11-year-old daughter and I see the way she plays games and she gravitates towards things that represent something she can relate to," Marcus Smith revealed in an interview with Console Creatures.
